DRM - Materials carrying device
QUESTION:Lets say you want to carry a bunk of 2x4's. Set them on wiht a skid
steer, tow it to where you want it dumped, and dump them. Same with
sheetrock.
Costs to build: Contractor version, track is 200 bucks, wheels 100 or
less, engine and hydraulics 400. I think you could manufacture in
quantities of 100 for 1000 bucks pretty easy. Contractors are willing
to spend money to save money.
Homeowner version I think you could do it a lot cheaper.
If someone wants it, have at it. It isn't patentable until it is built.
ANSWER: Sounds like a nice machine,, a bit of over kill in most instances
though, and there are already such devices that are wheeled (close to it
anyway) Country Home offers a gas and electric version of this
already,, you have a few added modifications
This would kick the retail contractor version to 3 to 5 thousand
depending on the market chain,, a bit high I would think even for most
contractors
One of the frustrations in life is carrying heavy, large stuff around.
By this I mean fire wood, mulch, fertilizer, construction materials,
concrete bags, rocks, DIRT, lumber, grass clippings, etc.
Current solutions include the wheel barrow, wagon, ATV, ATV with
trailer, lawntractor with trailer, garbage can, and your arms.
Imagine if you will a rubber tracked device. It has two wheels on the
front, with an engine located basically between them. It has a track
that is basically a snowmobile track in the back. The whole thing is
about 2 feet tall, 36 inches wide, and 10 feet long.
In front of the wheels is a handle that looks a LOT like the handle of
a wagon. To steer the thing, you pull the handle sideways, which turns
the tires sideways. On the handle is a switch such that if you are not
pulling on the handle, the device stops. Push backwards, and it goes
backwards.
One motor is a 5 horsepower gasoline type motor that runs a hydraulic
pump currently available as a log splitter power source. This gives
"free" reverse. This woudl be the industrial version suitable for
contractors.
Another motor woudl be an electric motor with batteries. Two or 3 car
batteries with an electric motor would provide enough go for the larger
sized home owner. Have an electric plug in for simplitity and a trickle
charger built in.
