QUESTION:Is the John Deere gator utility vehicle capable of handling moderately rough
and steep terain? We have 200 acres in northern CA and are going to need
something for hauling stuff around. The terain is mixed woods and grass with
sloping up from a valley floor to ridgetop. I've thought of an ATV but I'm
not
particular fond of them. Our local stable has a gator and it is really
quiet and
seems to be able to carry a lot. I wonder if it can handle steep terain as
well as
an atv though.
ANSWER: I have friends who had a Gator and they live in the hills and they hate it.
I know they posted a letter to the group about three years ago looking for
others who were unsatisfied with their Gator. They had first seen it at a
farm show and were assured that it would handle hills and such, but it
didn't, and was worse in the winter.
