QUESTION:Can someone recommend a place to learn forklift operation?
ANSWER: I'd recommend you seek out a public training institution to get your
forklift training. ie: college like Algonquin or others.
The quality of training one obtains at a private vocational school will
vary from one school to the next. The Ministry of Education who are the
regulating body for private vocational schools don't recommend the
places based on the number and nature of complaints they receive.
If you do decide on a private vocational school, do yourself a favour
and call the Minstry of Education and ask to speak with an investigator.
Ask for the low-down on the school's reputation with them, if the course
you are considering is registered with them and the number of hours that
is registered for the course. During the course keep very close watch on
your training hours, ensure you get what you pay for.
There are scam artists out there who like to call themselves educators.
They have no problem sweet talking you into parting with your money and
then shafting you on the training.
Here is what I'd do if I were you... check the public institutions in
the area to see if any of them offer forklift training. If not, then
consider going out of town to a public institution that offers the
training. If that is out of the question then get on the phone to the
Minstry of Education, ask for an investigator and ask them for a
recommendation of a decent local school that offers forklift training.
At least you'll end up with a school that doesn't have a bad reputation
with the Ministry.
