QUESTION:I have a JD955 which requires a #7 backhoe attachment. I was given a
#8 backhoe attachment. I need to find out if I can modify a #8 to fit
my JD955. Has anyone ever done this ? I would also like to find out
how the #7 mounts - does anyone have a manual that they can fax a
coyuple of pages ? I called my local JD dealer and they faxed me parts
descriptions for both units and they look very similar. Does anyone
know if I can just buy a #7 mounting frame and fit it on my #8 backhoe
?
ANSWER: 'm not sure I'd try it honestly, The smallest tractor that JD seems
to recommend in the brochures I have weighs nearly 1000lbs more than
a 955. I figure the front of the tractor will be pretty light when
moving and the whole machine will get pulled around quite a bit when
digging. The subframe question is best answered by a dealer. In short,
It might fit, but not work very well. BTW, there are several #7 hoes
on tractorbynet classifieds.
